Hello and welcome to season 2008!

I trust you all had a very Merry Christmas and a relaxing New Year holiday period and are ready to represent the blue and the white of Modbury with inspired enthusiasm. For those of you who are new to M.V.S.C via another soccer club, or perhaps new to the game of soccer, indeed a very warm welcome to Modbury Vista. I trust you will enjoy your involvement with our club whether that be by player, parent, coach, manager or perhaps a volunteer in our canteen or family fun nights. For those of you back to represent the blue and the white in whatever capacity, thank you again for your commitment to our club and I trust you will have, once again, an enjoyable season.

Our Registrar has been extremely busy over the Christmas/New Year period and, in fact, as this is written, is still receiving registrations to accumulate a record number of players to which we are all part of and one which you should be proud of. Needless to say, there are numerous new players to the club and I would ask of you, those of you who have been at the club for some time, to make these people feel welcome.

At this point in the season, we currently have 45 Development Squad, 470 Junior and senior with the desire to field four senior teams this year. These numbers surpass last year's figures, which is a wonderful achievement by all and I applaud your commitment to the club. In season 2007 we began a sponsorship drive to assist the club with funding for fencing and equipment which proved very successful, hence, this will occur again in 2008. In closing, the heat has been a factor in allowing teams to train, hence the season will be upon us with minimal training under our belts. I know this must be frustrating to a lot of you, however, we are all in the same boat with all E & D teams suffering the same fate. It is a policy of E & D's not to train if the forecast for the following day is 32c and over and we must endorse this policy. I appreciate your understanding and support in this matter. Enjoy your first game on the 5th of April and I look forward to meeting you all either at a club night or at the club on game day.
